Local Moving in Santa Fe
Looking for a local mover who genuinely knows Santa Fe? Leonard’s Moving Services is a licensed, insured New Mexico outfit that has worked this town since 2009, and Leonard runs every job himself, from the first box to the last, nothing brokered out and no day-labor grabbed off an app that morning. One crew does the work, and one clear number covers it.
What sets it apart
In this town the boxes are seldom what makes or breaks a move. What matters is the thick adobe doorway and low viga in an old Eastside home, the dirt lane with nowhere for a big truck to sit, the saltillo floor that needs runners, and the thin high-desert air that wears a rushed crew out. Leonard sorts all of that in advance, so moving day turns into the easy part.
How to get set
- Clear out and donate whatever is not making the trip
- Number your boxes by room and mark the fragile ones
- Sort the truck spot, gate pass, or building access ahead
- Break down beds and empty dressers the night before
- Keep your papers, keys, and valuables on you
What shapes your price
- How much is coming and the home size
- Distance across town and out to the villages
- Narrow lanes, stairs, altitude, and the carry length
- The day of the week, season, and weather
- Packing and any specialty pieces

Three Steps to Moving Day
From the first hello to the last box carried in the door and set in the right room.
Tell Us About the Move
Give Leonard the shape of the move by phone, on a quick video call, or straight through the form. What comes back is a fair hourly rate or a flat quote in writing, not a soft number that swells once the truck is loaded.
Lock In Your Date
Claim your day and we set the right crew and truck, then sort the parking on a narrow Eastside lane, the HOA gate pass, or the loading window your building asks for.
We Carry the Load
Leonard runs the whole job himself, wrap, load, drive, and place, and we plan the run around St. Francis Drive, Cerrillos Road, and I-25 so the day stays on time.
What’s in Every Local Moving Job
Book a local moving job with Leonard’s Moving Services and the basics come standard, with no surprise upcharges and no fine-print catches:

- At home in adobe compounds, Eastside dirt lanes, and Canyon Road galleries
- Used to the high-desert altitude, viga ceilings, and saltillo-tile floors
- 4.9 / 5 from 63 Santa Fe-area neighbors
Your Move, Fully Covered
Taken care of from the first blanket we throw down to the last box set in the far room.
Fully Insured
Every job carries cargo and liability coverage, and we go over your valuation choices with you before you sign a single form.
Adobe-Ready
Narrow adobe doorways, Eastside dirt lanes with no driveway, kiva corners, and saltillo floors, we scout the carry and lay down protection so a historic-district move never gets stuck at the gate.
Padded & Wrapped
Every piece is blanketed, shrink-wrapped, and strapped down tight. If a piece takes a knock, we call it out on the spot and put it right.
Done Right
An honest price, an owner who cares about the work, and nobody leaves until every last piece sits where you want it.

What Our Customers Say
Leonard and Danny were awesome. So glad we found them. If you're trying to get help moving/ loading/ lifting-- they are your guys! Seriously though, awesome help.
I can't say enough in praise of Leonard's Moving Services. Leonard is the working boss of this company. He and Danny (and sometimes his lovely wife) worked steadily and skillfully, packing and loading a very large household in a surprisingly short time. They cared for my possessions as if they were their own. This was a long-distance move to Central Texas. I shopped around for movers before deciding to hire Leonard. Compared to the large companies, his charge was very reasonable, and I got Leonard's personal touch. Thank you, Leonard, for going above and beyond.
Leonard and Danny showed up when they said they would. They worked fast and efficiently, with professionalism and courtesy. They unloaded my belongings with care and put the furniture where I requested. The charge for their services was very reasonable. I can't say enough good things about them! They really made my move much less stressful and pleasant and I highly recommend them. Thanks so much Leonard and Danny!
Questions We Hear a Lot
What will my move cost?
Two things drive it: the size of the load and how easy the access is. A truck with two movers opens at $110/hr, and you get a written estimate in hand before the first box moves. Prefer a set number? Ask Leonard for a flat quote and the figure you agree on is what you pay. When the move crosses state lines, we price it on weight and distance instead.
My place is an old adobe on a narrow Eastside lane. Can you handle it?
That is a lot of what we do. The historic homes off Canyon Road and around the Eastside sit on skinny dirt lanes with thick adobe doorways, low viga ceilings, kiva corners, and saltillo-tile floors that scratch if you rush. We measure the turns, pad the jambs, lay floor runners, and hand-carry anything that will not clear a tight portal.
When does the hourly clock start?
Timing starts when Leonard and the crew begin working at your door, not the moment we leave the yard. After the first hour we bill by the minute, so seventy minutes is seventy minutes and never rounded up to a flat two hours. Before a single box is lifted, we lay out the rate and how any drive time is counted.
Do you do loading and unloading only, or PODs and rental trucks?
Yes to all of it. Plenty of Santa Fe folks rent a truck or drop a POD and just need strong, careful hands to load or unload it, and that is a job Leonard has done for years. We load a rented truck tight so nothing shifts on I-25, unload a freight truck or container, or handle the whole move door to door, whatever you need.
I’m moving to Santa Fe from out of town. Can you help?
For sure, a good share of our work is people arriving in town, many of them settling in from out of state. We line up the delivery window, meet you at the new place, and sort out the parking, the narrow lane, or the gate on our end. Your things ride on our truck, with our crew, and are never handed off to whoever underbids that week.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Reschedule or cancel with two days’ notice or more and your full deposit comes back. Every condition is written into your booking in plain words, so nothing is left to guesswork.
